Today’s Cool Toy is the Crazy Chase Dive Ball
Since it’s coming into pool season (although it’s way too cold here in the Northeast right now) we are featuring yet another pool diving toy on Dave’s Cool Toys Blog. There are lots of diving toys available, including just using pennies that cost, well, pennies. So to be featured here a diving toy must be unique and innovative.
Crazy Chase Dive Ball
Drop the ball into the water and let it fall to the bottom of the pool. Then dive in (if there’s enough diving depth) and retrieve it. But wait! It’s not there anymore.
Crazy Chase rolls along the bottom of the pool in an unpredictable "crazy" pattern, making it more difficult to retrieve. It might roll away just as you’re about to grab it.
I think this is a great idea for a diving toy that makes this game far more fun than just diving and retrieving

This toy reminds me, in effect, of the stay-lit birthday candles. The basic concept being that the “toy” does unexpected things to prevent a child from doing what they set out to do. The candles re-light after they have been successfully blown out. Instilling a sense of failure in the child, and the sinking feeling that he will not get his wish. It truly messes with a kids head.
But this is a new level of cruelty. Based on the fact that things can be pushed around a pool by currents anyway, Thus making this far more subtle and infinitely more frustrating. An additional plus, is the fact that while failing to achieve his goal, the child will also be underwater. I can imagine thousands of OCD children so determined to get this ball that they stay down and chase it till they drown.
Great toy! And if the kid survives this one, why not get him the “Your friends are all laughing at you” poster for his room, and put him to bed every night with the reassurance that “You were an accident. We needed another kid like a hole in the head. G’night.”
You are seriously over-thinking this toy.
A sense of failure? what a joke!! How about using it
as a teaching moment that with enough hard work you can accomplish
your goal, or imagine this, How about let kids be kids and just have a fun new pool toy!!
